Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. In the first place the Selmons were brought up by Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as the eldest of their nine children. Two football. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. Then he settled in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. His business career began. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youngsters of the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
