Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only celebrity to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream, and to become a global pop culture icon. Swift has shed her country roots like it were a second-skin, and has proven herself to be one of the most savvy pop singer/songwriter within her generation. She is able to tap into the current trend and make it her personal. Swift's talents are evident in some of her first tracks, including the neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless released in 2008 Swift discovered who she is and find a wide audience. The album was hugely successful not just in America, where six of its singles have been certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across the globe. Swift managed to build upon her progress with Speak Now almost two year after. With the three albums following the three albums that followed -- Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 as well as Reputation 2017 -- her popularity only increased. That was an obvious indication that she was in the new music scene that she could be part of. She stayed on top of the charts even after she changed her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
